Simon Aede is a specialist in prostheses: He has been working as a prosthesis technician for over 50 years. We know him as a tireless supporter of the injured people of the Mother of Mercy Hospital in Sudan: he travels to Gidel several times a year to the hospital, which is located in the remote Nuba Mountains, to fit prostheses to Dr. Tom Catena's patients. Mother of Mercy Hospital
However, Simon's professional base is in Uganda, even there rather remotely in Katakwi. He has been working as an orthopaedic technician in eastern Uganda for many decades and set up a small health center in 2016, even opening a well-equipped pharmacy in the meantime. Since 2020, the center has also been officially registered by the authorities as an additional rural healthcare facility. He is determined to enable patients to lead a pain-free life: "I hear stories of people who return to their families after successful treatment and feel like full members of society. They can participate in life, work and help in the garden, even broken marriages come back together thanks to the new mobility!"
Simon wanted to make his knowledge and manpower available to his community around the Teso Center. However, people now come from far and wide to his small health center because of its excellent reputation. Simon needs some support to get his equipment and medical facilities up to scratch, but also to be able to care for patients who come to him for rehabilitation. He would also like to train young people so that his valuable, accumulated knowledge is not lost!
The campaign supports the purchase of medical devices and equipment for the Teso Center.
